08 Reasons Why Disposable Nitrile Gloves Are The Best
6 June 2022Prevent allergic reactions to rubber gloves
In a study conducted in Canada on workers from different areas (health workers, industrial manufacturing workers, workers in food processing industries, etc.), some of them presented allergic reactions when wearing disposable gloves. Some of the workers were wearing latex gloves, and others were wearing nitrile gloves to determine what type of gloves these workers were allergic to and to establish preventive measures in this regard.

Testing latex gloves on workers
Some of the workers had type I allergic reactions to latex. This type of allergy can cause coughing and sneezing, rashes on the face, as well as localized irritation on the hands due to direct contact with latex. Even though manufacturers of disposable latex gloves have invested time, money, and effort in improving their gloves formulation and minimizing allergic reactions in wearers of this type of glove, it is impossible to eliminate 100% of the protein added to latex during the gloves manufacturing process. Newer latex gloves are less likely to cause workers to develop allergies. Still, unfortunately, there is always a possibility, especially for those who have had allergic reactions before.
Nitrile gloves as an alternative to prevent allergic reactions
Nowadays, nitrile glove manufacturers are working hard to make accelerator-free gloves, and that is why allergic reactions to nitrile gloves are almost non-existent, although they could be caused by the lack of ventilation experienced by the skin when wearing the gloves. However, it is recommended not to use the same pair of gloves for prolonged periods; in this way, the skin will breathe correctly, and workers will not be at risk of presenting allergic reactions.
Final thoughts.
If you or any of your workers have experienced allergies to latex gloves before, the best thing to do is to start using accelerator-free nitrile gloves to prevent allergic reactions, also be aware of having the right glove for the task you are performing. Avoid using the same pair of disposable gloves for long hours because sometimes it’s not about the glove itself but more about the leakage capabilities, especially if you are working with chemicals because, in that case, allergic reactions can be caused by the chemicals instead. Our disposable nitrile gloves are powder-free, latex-free and accelerator-free. To check our product catalog, click this link.
